Rajeev has been spotlighting the issue of NPAs, crony capitalists escaping their obligations of paying of loans, and the deteriorating health of PSBs since 2010, both in Parliament, through his speeches and Parliamentary Questions, and outside through letters and articles. He urged successive Finance Ministers to take rigorous and swift remedial measures to reduce the concentration of risk, arrest the decline in the financial performance of banks and to take action against defaulting promoters before it becomes 'Too Big to Fail'. He has repeatedly urged the government that the re-capitalization of PSBs must come with deep re-structuring and reorganizing of these banks and how they are managed. The Finance Minister in his Budget 2016 speech announced structural changes like the announcement of Banks Board Bureau; expediting the implementation of the Indradhanush plan; addressing structural and regulatory issues in stressed sectors like Power, Coal, Highways, Sugar & Steel; amendment in the SARFAESI; and bringing the Insolvency bill all of which Rajeev has been suggesting for long period of time.

In 2013 Rajeev petitioned the Supreme Court of India to repeal the draconian Section 66A of the Information Technology Act. In 2014, Rajeev had approached the Supreme Court to ensure that Armed Forces personnel were permitted to vote. In both these cases despite repeated efforts in Parliament & engaging with the then Governments, they refused to do the right thing. Rajeev has always held the Constitution of India supreme and endeavoured to uphold and fight for citizens’ rights through provisions of the Constitution and remedies by the Supreme Court.
