Vacant Post of Chairperson of Cyber Appellate Tribunal

3030. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR

Will the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology be pleased to state:-

(a) Whether the Ministry has taken note of the media reports that appeals before the Cyber Appellate Tribunal remain pending due to the post of the Chairperson of the Tribunal Iying vacant continuously since 30 June, 2011;

(b) Whether the Ministry has taken steps to appoint a Chairperson to the Tribunal;

(c) If so, the time-line within which the appointment will be made; and

(d) If not, the reasons therefor?

(a)and (b): Yes, Sir. Since 01.07.2011, continuous efforts have been made by Ministry to fill up the post by advertising it on three occasions, but the appointment could not materialize due to various reasons.

(c)and (d): No time frame can be indicated for filling up the post of Chairperson, Cyber Appellate Tribunal.
