Surveying of new Sources of Natural Gas

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM & NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:-

(a)   Whether Government proposes to conduct the survey of new deposits of natural gas in the country, particularly in the Southern and Western parts of the nation; and

(b)   If so, the details thereof?

(a)   & (b) Surface geochemical survey was recently carried out by Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) in Satpura – South Rewa – Damodar Basins in Central and Eastern India and Cauvery Basin in Southern India to ascertain the indication of presence of hydrocarbon. Geochemical Surveys are also planned to be carried out in Spiti – Zanskar and Karewa Basins in Northern India.

Further, in various blocks awarded under the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) regime in onland and offshore area of the country, including Southern and Western parts of India, different geo – scientific Surveys will be carried out by the Contractors as per work programme specified in the respective PSCs to assess hydrocarbon prospectivity of the blocks.
