Storm Water Drain Projects Under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM)

 

1733. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

 Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state;

 (a)   the details and status of completion of Storm Water Drain (SWD) Projects undertaken in Bengaluru under JNNURM, as on date;

(b)   whether Government has conducted the mandatory third party inspection on quality check or validation of the progress of the projects undertaken, if so, the details thereof;

(c)    whether Government has approved the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) despite the State Government pointing out encroachments in the acquired land for execution of the project; and

(d)   if so, the reasons therefor and details of the revised project, time line for completion, revised cost estimates and total amount of funds released till date?

(a): Details and status of completion of Storm Water Drain (SWD) Projects in Bengaluru under Urban Infrastructure & Governance (UIG) Sub-Mission of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) is annexed.

(b): Independent Review Monitoring Agency (IRMA) has been appointed by the Government to monitor the progress and quality control of the projects implemented under JnNURM.

(c) & (d): Government of Karnataka has ensured smooth flow of storm water in the drains and to prevent flooding. Presently, the works have been taken up where there are no encroachments and an amount of Rs. 464.86 crore is already incurred. To complete the balance works, continuous efforts are being made to remove the encroachments of storm water drains.
