STATUS OF NATIONAL MILITARY MEMORIAL PROJECT

990. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:

(a) the status of the National Military Memorial project in New Delhi;

(b) whether work on the National Military Memorial has started;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the timeline for completion of this project?

SUBHASH BHAMRE

(a) to (d): Yes, Sir.  The National War Memorial Project was approved by the Union Cabinet in October 2015.  The work has been awarded after completing the tendering process and construction work has commenced.  Mobilisation of resources like plant and machinery and barricading of the site is under progress.  The expected date for completion of the Project is 15^th August 2018.
