ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS
(SHRI KOTLA JAYA SURYA PRAKASH REDDY)
(a) to (d): Double broad gauge line already exists between Bangalore and Tumkur. Tumkur – Davangere new line project (199.7 Km) was sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 913 crore in 2011-12. Final location survey has been completed. Government of Karnataka has agreed to provide land free of cost and to share 50% of the construction cost of the project. Land acquisition papers for 2810 acre out of 2961 acre have also been submitted to the State Government. However, physical execution of works would be taken up after sufficient land and matching funds are provided by the State Government.
No target date for completion of this project is fixed.
