Private Public Partnership Financing of Infrastructure Projects

Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:-

(a)what is the total cumulative net quantum of FDI (excluding FII) into various Infrastructure projects since May, 2004;

(b)what is the status of the private-Public partnership financing of infrastructure projects;

(c)if so, how many projects have been approved under this programme;

(d)what is the total quantum involved and the details of these projects; and

(e)how many projects under private-public partnership are being considered for financing from Karnataka?

(a)       Sector-wise FDI inflows during 2004 (January - December), 2005 (January - December) and 2006 (January - March) including that of infrastructure sectors, is given at Annex-I,

(b) to (e): For those Public Private Partnership projects in infrastructure sector, which are commercially not viable but have a high economic value, the Government of India had announced the scheme of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) in August, 2005. The scheme covers only those PPP projects in the infrastructure sector, which are to be implemented by a private entity that is selected through a competitive and transparent bidding process. The status of the proposals received so far under this scheme is at Annex-II.
