Naval Base of China in Indian Ocean

SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:

(a)   whether it is a fact that China has established a Naval base in the Island of Seychelles on the Indian Ocean;

(b)   if so, the details thereof; and

(c)    what is the reaction of Government over this development in the context of the security of the nation?

(a) As per the information available in the Ministry of Defence no such Naval base has been established by China in Seychelles.
