National Foodgrain Movement Plan

22. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC, DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state:

(a) Whether the Prime Minister has approved the developing of a National Foodgrain Movement Plan that will tie up with the Food Security Law;
(b) If so, the details of the scheme;
(c) The aim behind this move and the salient features of the scheme;
(d) Whether any Panel/Group has been set up to supervise the entire operation; and
(e) If so, the details thereof?

(a) To (c): The Department of Food & Public Distribution has proposed to prepare a plan on the movement of food grains in consultation with Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Railways. The FCI and Railways have been asked to furnish relevant inputs for formation of such a Plan. Once these inputs are received, the Department will endeavour to prepare a National Foodgrain Movement Plan.
