Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-  

(a)        the number of persons in Karnataka who opted for community service under National Service Volunteer Scheme during the last three years ending 31st December, 2008, year-wise;

(b)        whether there is any proposal to increase the present rate of honorarium of Rs.1000/- per month which is very low taking into consideration the present cost of living in the country; and

(c)        if, so the proposed revised rate and by when it is to be made effective?

(a)        The number of persons enrolled in the State of Karnataka under the National Service Volunteer Scheme (NSVS) during the last three years is as under:

(b) & (c) The honorarium of National Service Volunteer (NSVs) has been enhanced from Rs.1000/- to Rs.2500/- per month with effect from 3rd September, 2008.
