(c) if so, by when each of these Vidyalayas are likely to start functioning?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(SMT. D. PURANDESWARI)
(a) to (c) No decision has been taken about the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) to be opened in Karnataka during the 11th Five Year Plan. However, after commencement of 11th Five Year Plan, KVS has opened 2 KVs in Karnataka at Belgaum and Bagalkot. No new JNV has been opened in Karnataka during the 11th Five Year Plan. Opening of a KV depends upon receipt of a viable proposal from the sponsor i.e. State Government/Public Sector Undertakings etc. committing free land & temporary accommodation, availability of adequate number of students of specified categories, approval of competent authority and availability of funds. Opening of a JNV is also based on receipt of a viable proposal from the concerned State/UT Government offering suitable land free of cost along with provision of temporary building till the construction of permanent building, and is further subject to sanction of competent authority and availability of funds.
