Implementation of NMDP

152. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of SHIPPING be pleased to state:
Whether the National Maritime Development Programme (NMDP) is being implemented by Government;
If so, the details thereof;
Whether NMDP has covered the Mangalore Port in Karnataka;
If so, the number of projects which have been taken up at the port and what is their cost, project- wise; and
By when these projects will be completed?

& (b): The Ministry of Shipping formulated a National Maritime Development Programme (NMDP) to implemenet 276 specific programmes/ schemes covering the entire gamut of activities in the ports with the objective to upgrade and modernize the port infrastructure in India that will enable it to benchmark its performance against global standards.
( c) & (e): New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) is also covered under the NMDP and the total number of projects identified for NMPT are 20 out of which two projects have been completed and five projects have been taken up/ are in progress. The details of completed projects and projects taken up, their cost and date of completion is given below:
