QUESTION
Funds for Implementing RTE in Karnataka 

1932. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state;

(a)   the details of funds given or proposed to be given to Karnataka for implementing the Right to Education (RTE);

 (b)   whether there is any delay in giving funds for RTE implementation in that State; and

(c)    if so, the reasons therefor, considering the fact that the future of thousands of children are at stake?

 (a) to (c): The Central funds under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) are released in two installments to the States/UTs, depending on the pace of expenditure, the release of commensurate State share, the submission of Utilization Certificates (UCs), audit reports etc.

Accordingly, the Government of India has released its share of Rs. 669.03 crore, Rs. 627.88 crore and Rs. 684.50 crore during 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 respectively to the State of Karnataka. During 2013-14, Rs. 495.19 crore has already been released to Karnataka under the SSA till 31st December, 2013.
