Financial Assistance to Karnataka for Kannada Classical Language
3523. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the funds and assistance provided to Karnataka, after Kannada was accorded classical language status; and
(b) the details of the funds released to other Classical languages in the country in the same period?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Human Resource Development issued an order on 29.9.2011 for establishing the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada at the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore, a subordinate office of this Ministry. The funds required for the development and propagation of classical Kannada are released to the CIIL and therefore, the question of releasing funds to the State Government of Karnataka for the purpose does not arise. The details of funds allocated to the Classical Languages in the country including Kannada after Kannada was accorded classical language status are as under:
