ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE FOR TOURISM (INDEPENDENT CHARGE)
(DR. K. CHIRANJEEVI)
(a) to (c): Yes, Sir. The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned a Mega Project for 'Development of Tourism Infrastructure at Hampi World Heritage Site in Karnataka'. So far the Ministry has released Rs.26.27 crore.
Development and promotion of various tourism destinations & products, is primarily the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. However, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for tourism projects identified in consultation with them, subject to availability of funds, inter-se-priority and adherence to the Scheme Guidelines.
(d) to (e): The State Government of Karnataka has submitted another proposal for Development of Tourism Infrastructure at the World Heritage Site Pattadakal and Badami/Aihole in Bagalkot District in Karnataka as Mega Circuit Project for grant of Central Financial Assistance. The project has not been sanctioned due to non-submission of Utilization Certificates by the State Government of Karnataka for CFA sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism during the 10th & 11th Five Year Plan periods (up to 2010-11).
