THE MINISTER OF TOURISM AND CULTURE

(a) to (c) : Development and promotion of places of tourist interest is primarily undertaken by the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations themselves. However, Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance on the basis of project proposals prioritized in consultation with the State Governments.

During the 10th Plan, 29 projects amounting to Rs.7423.69 lakhs have been sanctioned to the State of Karnataka and the details of these projects are given in the Annexure.

The following new project proposals have been received from the State Government during 2007-08:

  1. Integrated Development of Tourist Circuit in Bijapur-Bidar-Gulbarga, Karnataka
  2. Eco Tourism Project – Jungle Camps and Trails, Karnataka
  3. Development of Eco Sites at Talacauvery-Gopinatham-Bhagwati-Seetanadi.

Proposals which are complete in all respect as per guidelines are processed on inter-se priority basis and funds released subject to availability under the respective head.  The project for Integrated Development of Tourist Circuit in Bijapur-Bidar-Gulbarga, Karnataka has already been sanctioned for Rs.640.97 Lakh in 2007-08.
