Corporate espionage incident

203. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR 

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-

(a) the details of action taken against those booked under the corporate espionage incident in May this year;

(b) whether Government to ensure Hundred per cent deterrence would consider enacting a legislation or amend existing laws like the Criminal Procedure Code; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) : Central Bureau of Investigation as well as Delhi Police have reported that no such case has been registered by them during the month of May, 2015. However, 13 persons involved in obtaining/ stealing/ procuring official documents by trespassing the offices of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas at ShastriBhawan, New Delhi have been arrested vide FIR No. 17 dated 18/02/2015 u/s 457/380/468/471/120-B/34 IPC at PS Crime Branch. Three persons involved in obtaining/ stealing/procuring official documents by trespassing the offices of Ministry of Coal at ShastriBhawan and Ministry of Power at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi have been arrested vide FIR No. 20/15 dated 22.02.2015 PS Crime Branch u/s 457/380/ 468/471/120B/34 IPC. Chargesheet of the above cases have been filed by Delhi Police in the Hon’ble Court. 

(b) to (c): As regards amendment in CrPC etc., this Ministry has not received any proposal regarding deterrence in the corporate espionage etc. However, amendment in Criminal laws is a continuous process to make the laws in sync with the social needs.
