Allocation of Spectrum in Future

1001 SHRI RATEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:

(a)   whether Government has decided that it will hold auctions for allocation of all spectrum in future, including 2G spectrum; and

(b)   if so, the details of available spectrum in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands that would be subject to such auctions?

(a) & (b) Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in its recommendations made on 8^th February, 2011 on "Spectrum Pricing" mentioned the possibility of auction of the surplus spectrum. These recommendations are under consideration of the Government.
