Building of War Memorial in Delhi

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:-

(a) whether Government has begun work on building a War Memorial in Delhi, if so, the details thereof; and

(b) the time-frame by when the memorial is expected to be completed?

(a) Yes, Sir, the process has started. The Cabinet in its meeting held on 7th October 2015 has approved the proposal for construction of National War Memorial at ‘C’ Hexagon of India Gate and the National War Museum either at Princess Park Complex in Delhi or any other suitable site in the vicinity. A dedicated Project Management Team has been constituted for planning and executing the project from conception till completion working under the guidance / direction of Empowered Apex Steering Committee chaired by the Defence Secretary.

(b) The tentative time-frame for the project completion is five years.
