FREE WI-FI SERVICE BY RAILTEL

1747. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of railway stations in the country providing RailTel free Wi-Fi, State-wise;

(b) the amount of data consumed per month, State-wise;

(c) the cost incurred by RailTel in providing free Wi-Fi services, till now; and

(d) whether Government plans to setup free Wi-Fi facilities at all railway stations of the country?

ANSWER

(a): Wi-Fi facilities have been provided at a total of 425 Railway Stations in various States, the details of which are appended as Appendix – I.

(b): Data consumed at Railway Stations in various States for the month of January 2018 is appended as Appendix-II.

(c): Till now RailTel has approved works amounting to ` 103.69 Cr. for providing Wi-Fi services at 638 Railway Stations on Indian Railways.

(d): Yes, Sir.
