SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN IN KERALA
Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government has taken note of the allegations made by prominent individuals about sexual abuse of children in certain educational institutions in the State of Kerala;
(b) if so, the details of the action taken by Government to investigate these allegations and bring the perpetrators of abuse, if any, to book; and
(c) whether Government is taking any proactive steps to safeguard children living in educational institutions from future sexual assaults and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) deals with the Sexual Offences against children in all settings including educational institutions. Section 44 of the POCSO Act, 2012 empowers the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to monitor the implementation of the provisions of this Act in such a manner as may be prescribed. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has reported that no such information is available with them.
