Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-

(a)        whether it is a fact that daily passengers and their associates held up Delhi–Amroha shuttle for about an hour on 10th September, 2007 at Dasna Railway Station in U.P. and thrashed and robbed students and teachers of Amroha college who were travelling by that train;

(b)        if so, whether the matter has been inquired into, particularly with regard to inaction of the Railway Police personnel travelling in that train and the conduct of the local Station Master who did not call the police in time; and

(c)        if so, the details of the findings of inquiry and the action taken thereon?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 39 BY SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR TO BE ANSWERED IN RAJYA SABHA ON 16.11.2007 REGARDING THRASHING AND ROBBING OF STUDENTS IN AMROHA SHUTTLE AT DASNA RAILWAY STATION.

(a): Yes, Sir. On 10.09.2007 at about 20.25 hrs. daily passengers and their associates held up Delhi - Amroha 2 NDB passenger train at Dasna Railway Station over Ghaziabad – Hapur section in Uttar Pradesh state and thrashed and beaten the students and teachers of American Institute of English Language, Amroha, who were travelling in the same train. The daily passengers were teasing the girl students in the train, which reportedly led to the above clash between daily passengers and students / teachers of American Institute of Amroha.

(b):No, Sir. Inaction on part of Government Railway Police escort party or the local Station Master was not observed; hence no enquiry was conducted in this aspect.

(c):Government Railway Police / Ghaziabad has registered a case vide crime No. 108 / 07 under sections 147, 149, 323, 504, 332, 336 of the Indian Penal Code and 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act on 11.9.2007 against Md. Umar @ Shahnawaj, Sonu, Mamma @ Md. Ahmad, Rashid, Raju @ Taj Mohammad, Irshad, Sharif and others.
