Switched To Clean Fuel

130. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
a) whether it is a fact that the oil companies are unlikely to meet the deadline of 1 st April, 2010 for switching to cleaner fuel as laid down by the auto fuel policy of2003; and
b) if so, the reasons therefore and by when this exercise is expected to be completed?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS (SHRI MURLI DEORA)

(a) & (b) : As per the road map given in the Auto Fuel Policy, Euro-Iv equivalent MSIHSD will be supplied in \3 major cities namely, NCRJDelhi. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Kanpur, Agra, Lucknow and Sclapur w.e.f. 1.4.2010. Euro•III equivalent MSIHSD would be supplied in the rest of the country in a phased manner between April to October, 2010 starting from Goa w.e.f. 1.4.2010.
