Report of working of POCSO courts

1430. Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar 

Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-

(a) whether Government has taken cognizance of the report on working of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Courts in Delhi by Centre for Child and the Law, National Law School of India University, Bangalore which states that the identity of child victim is poorly protected despite Section 33(7) of POCSO Act requiring so;

(b) whether Government has also taken cognizance of the fact that despite Section 38 of POCSO Act mandating qualified experts to be available in courts, such experts are not available in most courts; and

(c) if so, what steps is Government taking to address these issues?

(a) to (c) Section 44 of the POCSO Act, 2012 empowers the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to monitor the implementation of the provisions of this Act in such a manner as may be prescribed. NCPCR has initiated action to conduct empirical studies on different identified areas of the report. NCPCR has taken cognizance of the said report of the National Law School, Bangalore.
