Rape victims

3370. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) : the number of rape victims registered during the last three years, year-wise;

(b) : the details of amount of aid provided to such victims; and

(c) : the steps taken/proposed to be taken by Government for rehabilitation of such victims?

(a)to (c):        As per the National Crime Records Bureau data, 19348, 20737 & 21467
cases of rape were registered during the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively.

There is a proposal to provide for relief and rehabilitation of rape victims. There is a provision of Rs. 40 crore in 2010-11. The disbursement will start after the scheme has received approval of the Government.
