Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to refer to answer to Unstarred Question 1460 given in the Rajya Sabha on 24 August, 2012 and state the status of implementation of the new EMF radiation guidelines to reduce emission levels, nationwide?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF
COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
(SHRI MILIND DEORA)

Sir, the revised Electromagnetic Field (EMF) radiation norms to reduce emission levels from Base Transmitting Stations (BTSs) have been implemented with effect from 01.09.2012.

Strict monitoring and enforcement of revised radiation norms has been initiated by DoT.

In 102 cases, where the Base Station Emissions were found to be higher than the prescribed norms, corrective actions have been taken immediately and necessary show cause notices/demand notices have been issued.
