Ombudsman for Higher Educational Institutes

2583. Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar:

Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

a)      Whether Government has decided to appoint an Ombudsman for higher educational institutions in the country; and

b)      If so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) : University Grants Commission , All India Council for Technical Education and National Council for Teacher Education have been requested to establish a grievance redressal mechanism for students and applicants for admission in higher educational institutions under their regulatory control. This mechanism includes appointment of Ombudsman also for redressal of students’ grievances.
