Implementation of Kamdhenu Project in Karnataka
3435. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that NABARD has recently launched a Kamdhenu Project in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the status of the implementation of Project Kamdhenu in Karnataka?

(a) and (b) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has informed that the Kamdhenu Scheme is implemented by Government of Andhra Pradesh with the financial support from banks at the Farmer level and to Mandal Mahila Samakhyas (MMS). NABARD has also informed that during December 2010, they had sanctioned the livelihood project under Umbrella Programme for Natural Resource Management (UPNRM) in the State of Andhra Pradesh with a total project outlay of Rs. 1.09 crore per Mandal Mahila Samakhyas (MMS) for financing their members for procurement of milch animals and providing support services like Veterinary Services, supply of Motorized Chaff cutters, Azolla Cultivation, capacity building of farmers, organizing fertility camps etc. Support at the Farmer level is provided to existing milk pourers for two animals along with soft loan for feed and fodder.
(c) Does not arise, in view of (a) above.
