Gulbarga-Bidar Railway Line

 

1824. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state;

(a)   the status Gulbarga - Bidar railway line project;

(b)   by when this railway line is likely to be completed;

(c)    whether the push pull train between Bidar and Humnabad has commenced its service from 2 October 2013, as announced by the Minister; and

(d)   if not, the reasons therefore and by when it is likely to commence?

(SHRI KOTLA JAYA SURYA PRAKASH REDDY)

(a) The project for constructing a new line between Gulbarga - Bidar (106.60 Km) was included in the Railway Budget for 1997-98 and approval from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was received in March 1999. The estimated cost of the project was Rs. 242.42 Crore at that time.

(b) Phase-I of the project between Khanapur - Homnabad (38 Kms) has been completed. The section between Homnabad - Hallikhed is scheduled for completion in 2013-14. Work for the remaining section between Hallikhed - Gulbarga (56.5 Km) has been taken up and section between Gulbarga - Sultanpur (10 Km) has been completed. No target date has been fixed for completion of the remaining section.

(c) 3 pairs of DEMU train services between Bidar and Homnabad has been introduced w.e.f 30.12.2013

(d) Does not arise.
