Derecognition Of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Diploma

1934. SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:

Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state;

(a)   whether it is a fact that the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)'s distance learning Diploma in Mechanical Engineering has been derecognized;

(b)   if so, the details thereof;

 (c)    whether Government is aware that hundreds of students pursuing this course are disadvantaged due to this de-recognition; and

(d)   if so, the steps taken or proposed to be taken by Government to safeguard the interests of these students?

(a): No, Sir.

(b) to (d): As per the information furnished by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), as a policy decision, the University stopped running Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the year 2010. However, the existing students of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering already enrolled were facilitated by the University in completing their Diploma course.
