Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-
(a) the quantum of Central financial assistance given to Karnataka during 2006.-07 for various educational schemes, scheme-wise;
(b) the extent to which Central assistance was utilized by the State, scheme-wise with State’s share in each scheme; and
(c) in case where Central assistance was not fully utilized, the reasons therefor and the steps proposed to ensure full utilization thereof in future?

a): The quantum of Central financial assistance given to Karnataka during 2006-07 for various education schemes, schemewise are as under:

# Out of Rs.16.06 crores released, an amount of Rs.11.67 crores was towards re-imbursement of expenditure actually incurred during 2004-05 and 2005-06.
(b) & (c): The funds released for implementation of various schemes are to be utilized within the prescribed period and the Utilisation Certificates are not yet due, Monitoring at various levels is made at regular intervals to ensure that the funds are utilized for the purpose for which grants were released.
