Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-

(a) the number of persons in the age group 15 – 35 in Karnataka and Punjab who received education under the Adult Literacy Programme during the last three years, ending 31st March, 2007, year-wise and State-wise;

(b) the expenditure sanctioned and incurred, separately, on the programme during the period, year- wise and State-wise; and

(c) whether the funds meant for the programme are not being utilized fully and if so, to what other use they are being diverted to, State–wise ?

(a) & (b) As per the information received from the State Governments of Karnataka and Punjab, the number of persons made literate in the 15-35 age group under the Adult Literacy Programme and also the details of the grants released and expenditure incurred during the last three years in respect of these two States are given in the statement enclosed.
